From Rise: The Vieneo Province
Revision as of 19:28, 13 March 2007 by rme2001
This tutorial was made to get you started in the world of Rise, the opportunities below just describe a small portion of what is possible in Rise.
Step 1: In the Apartment
When you first get ingame, you will find yourself in an apartment building overlooking the airport of the city of Deois, you can walk around in that apartment to get a better view. To save you time trying: that door cannot be opened in order to get out of that apartment. To board your first vehicle (C-2 Dasher Car) you need to press the 1 key on your keyboard.
You may have already noticed it says this in the top right window of your player HUD, this part of the HUD is your key to interfacing with different buildings/districts of the cities and player built colonies, this menu is also used when you are doing fuel and cargo transfers.
Step 2: Being a Taxi Driver
You should now be sat in your first vehicle outside of your apartment, the best way to start yourself of, is to do the basic task of taxi driving, this will earn you only a little money whilst getting you used to the city layout, the controls and use of the player interface.
Make sure to add a waypoint to your apartment before you start moving, read more on waypoints on the Organizer page.
Step 3: Start moving!
The controls for the C-2 Dasher are pretty straightforward:
- Up and Down arrows to in or de-crease throttle
- Left and Right arrows to steer
- Spacebar to brake
- / and * to shift gears
Adittional none movement related controls:
- L toggle headlights
- P toggle vehicle power
Once you drive a short distance away from your appartment your will enter the transit district. When you enter the Transit Disctrict your Intermedia display will update with new options, now to start your first ride as a cab driver go for option 2) Curbside Taxi
The server will now tell you that you have a new fare, it will also tell you wich building your passenger wants to go to and in what district this building is located. Now would be a good time to check out the Deois Map for the location of different buildings and get the coordinates for the building your passenger wants to goto.
Step 4: Watch those Curbs!
You may not see raised curbs, they look flat dont they?! Well they hurt if you hit them at speed! be carefull! If your going to go off-road drive no faster that 40km/h and you should be ok. If you did hit a curb too hard and you are wounded or your car is damanged just press SHIFT-R to repair yourself, and if you have managed to land upside down press F3.
Once you arrived at the building of destination drive around it until you get a X)Unload Passenger option in the Intermedia menu. Congratulations!! you just earned your first 25 credits on Vieneo.
Step 5: Banking those Credits
I suggest the next step you take is taking your credits to the bank, that way you don't only earn intrest on them, they are also safe and secure and not lost when you die. Load up the coordinates to the Fleet Bank in Deois into your organizer and drive to it.
Once you arrive at the Fleet bank building, select 1)Open Account from the Intermedia menu, now you have an account with Fleet Bank and you recieved a 50 credit bonus as a welcome gift. Now you can simply deposit your money into your account by going into 2)Teller Functions and then use 1)Deposit. The same menu can be used to withdraw money from your account or to transfer money to another player.
Step 6: A world of Posibilities
Congratulations you got the hang of the basics of RISE: The Vieneo Province. A world of posibilities is now open for you to explore, here are some ideas to get you started:
There is much more to do than drive around in a car just ask any other player. There are also alliances ingame, some of which loan aircraft in return for work, keep that in mind.
Our established playerbase members will pretty much jump up and down to provide answers for you and give you a little direction in your ingame career, we would love nothing more than to have you up in the air with us and exploring the world, we enjoy this game and would love it if you do too. You MUST ask questions, no question is a stupid question, this game is complex and there is much to be learnt, dont have a crap time because you dont know what to do, ask someone! we dont bite!
See you ingame!
