Right of way

The government requires all plot owners to respect a right of way for road expansion.
Roads are planned to go North and South, East and West, through the center of each plot sold.

People that can build on the right of way

The plot owner can build on their own plots.
The owner of a territory that over laps a plot can build roads on the plot.
The local governments may build roads deemed necessary.

Road Segments

Each of the 4 segments starting at the center of the plot is 1 (one) Km long.
Each lane is 3.7m wide with a 0.5m shoulder
Each segment uses 11,056 MT of common for a 1km stretch

Roadside signs

Roadside signs mark speed limits, bends and junctions on user-built roads. District signs are provided separately by the city road models.

  • Speed-limit signs show 80 km/h and face traffic in both directions. Reminders appear after entering road segments and beyond intersections. A posted limit does not mean a bend can be taken at that speed.
  • A left- or right-curve warning on the approach to a district describes the first bend in the connecting road. Slow down before entering the connector.
  • Junction warnings describe the roads actually built: a side road on the left or right, a crossroads, or a T-junction where the road ahead ends.

Approach warnings are placed about 180 m before the junction or district boundary on 80 km/h user roads. They stand just beyond the gravel shoulder on the right side of travel. The printed sign faces reflect vehicle headlights; visibility still depends on distance, lighting and weather. At night or in fog, drive slowly enough to recognize hazards within the visible road ahead; signs do not guarantee a safe stopping distance. These signs do not automatically brake the vehicle.

Ordinary roadside and district signs can be knocked down by contact with your vehicle. A knocked-down sign remains down until its terrain plot unloads, then returns upright when the area is loaded again. Looking away or moving beyond the sign's drawing distance does not repair it while that plot remains loaded. This temporary damage is local to your client and is not shared with other players. Fallen signs do not block vehicles.

The Deois gateway arch is a fixed structure. Its foundations, legs and overhead structure are solid and cannot be knocked down; the road opening remains clear. A vehicle that strikes the structure can take collision damage, so allow clearance for its width and height.

Grade requirements

Roads over 8% grade are unsafe and there for denied without special exemptions.

Exempt plot types

The following types of colonies are exempted from right of way requirements.

  • Airfields

Airfields are expected to maintain a secure area for aircraft to land.
Letting roads cross the runway is inherently dangerous.

  • Cities

The have already planned and paved their roads.
Additional roads through the Cities are prohibited.

  • Water

Without a foundation to support the road Vehicles would get stuck.
Long distance causeways are actively being discouraged at this point.
