Algae serve as a vital food source on Vieneo. The **Algae Farms** are a specialized system that grow and harvest algae in open-air tanks, taking advantage of natural weather conditions and seasonal cycles.

How It Works:

• The Tanks: Each algae farm contains a tank filled with water where algae grows. The tanks are exposed to the open air, meaning they’re affected by the weather and the changing seasons.
• Growth Cycle: Algae takes three months to fully grow and be ready for harvest, aligning with the seasonal cycle. This means the farmstead has to plan accordingly to ensure a steady supply of food.
• Starting the Growth: The farmstead contains the inoculum that you need to initiate the growth process. This initial “starter culture” is the first key to getting the algae farm up and running.

Important Details:

• Weather Dependency: The algae growth can be affected by environmental factors like temperature, sunlight, and rainfall. Pay attention to the seasons and adjust your strategies for maximizing output.
• Sustainability: The algae will continue to grow and reproduce indefinitely.
• Harvesting: After three months, the algae is ready for harvest. The algae farm will yield algae for consumption, but careful management of the farmstead and cycles will be necessary to maintain a balanced food supply. Hyroponics and greenhouses are not affected by weather but are more expensive.
