There are 4 forces acting on an aerospace vehicle in flight.

  1. Thrust
  2. Drag
  3. Lift
  4. Mass

  • Weight is a product of the mass of an object and the gravity in the environment
  • An aircraft will climb as long as the lift is greater then the weight
  • The aircraft stay the same altitude when lift and weight are equal
  • The aircraft will descend when weight is greater then lift
